Introduction

The Dr. Tamás Dizseri Habilitation Center opened its doors in 1983 with the mission to provide daytime care and employment opportunities for people with disabilities, to encourage their activity, increase their independence, and support their social integration. The Habilitation Center is a place where it is good to be – where our clients can flourish, find friends, and receive support.

Day Care

Day care is of utmost importance to us, ensuring that all our clients receive the highest possible level of development and care. Therefore, we continuously expand the range of our activities, strive to improve and develop our environment, and involve dedicated professionals and volunteers in our work. Our goal is for our clients to acquire practical, useful knowledge that helps them navigate everyday life and enables them to live with the greatest possible independence.

We place great emphasis on ensuring that everyone can participate in meaningful, value-creating activities during the day and find engagements best suited to their abilities and interests. These are mostly creative activities that not only bring joy but also develop manual and practical skills.

Group of Children in Developmental Education

The group of children with severe and multiple disabilities was admitted to the Dr. Tamás Dizseri Habilitation Center in 2022. The children take part in day care, which is complemented by four hours of developmental education and teaching each day, provided by the teachers of Móra Ferenc Primary School and EGYMI in Érd. Their curriculum includes movement, speech, communication, self-care, and music therapy. In addition to the education provided by the school, the Habilitation Center offers dog therapy, supervision, and catering.

Our Activities

physiotherapy session with a therapist
Physiotherapy

Individual and group physiotherapy here is not only about strengthening muscles. It is truly a remedy that improves coordination, increases independence, and even boosts overall well-being. Over time, it has become an integral part of our daily routine. The good company and cheerful atmosphere add so much value that the exercises become even more enjoyable.

aquatic exercise session in a swimming pool
Aquatic Exercise

At the Érd Arena, professionally led water-based exercise sessions are held weekly to improve our clients’ general fitness, posture, coordination, balance, and well-being.

participants acting in a drama workshop
Drama Workshop

Through the tools of drama pedagogy, we can “model” everyday life situations and explore possible “responses” to them. Role-playing and situational exercises help participants develop skills that support more effective conflict management, the release of inner tension, and the processing of setbacks and failures.

special education teacher supporting an adult with disabilities
Special Education Support

This means personalized guidance for adults living with disabilities, covering life support, organizing meaningful activities, developing practical intelligence, and helping with everyday orientation. Building on the programs already well established in our institution — such as the Drama Workshop, Movement Theatre, and Music Therapy — we provide complementary development individually and in small groups to improve attention, memory, and thinking.

group session of tale therapy with storytelling
Tale Therapy

With the method of tale therapy, using live, personal storytelling, we can achieve significant results. In these stories, we all become participants. During storytelling, not only concentration and imagination develop, but also self-awareness and problem-solving skills. The symbols of tales help maintain a healthy distance from personal problems, while by stepping into the role of a character we can face our own struggles and difficulties. This perspective enables us to see challenges more clearly and discover possible solutions.

guided meditation session
Meditation

During guided meditation, our clients learn to focus on themselves and immerse themselves in stories that evoke different sensations in both body and mind. Through these sessions, they acquire correct breathing techniques, develop body awareness, and gain the opportunity to know, accept, and love themselves more deeply.

training session for work preparation
Work Preparation

With the help of a structured curriculum, our clients become familiar with workplace expectations, learn proper behavior and communication, and gain awareness of their rights and responsibilities. This knowledge helps them enter the open labor market with greater success after completing the program.

dog-assisted therapy session
Canine-Assisted Therapy

The certified therapy dogs and trainers of the Azúr Canine Therapy Association are regular visitors. These sessions place great emphasis on developing social, cognitive, motor, and communication skills — and of course, on creating a joyful atmosphere.

group outing and leisure activities
Leisure Programs

We consider it important that leisure programs be a regular part of our clients’ daily schedule, as our goal is to make the time spent at the institution joyful and rich in experiences. We regularly organize programs and excursions tailored to their interests and encourage them to learn how to plan and spend their free time meaningfully outside the institution as well.

Art Groups

Csengettyű Együttes (Handbell Ensemble)

The ensemble was founded and led by Eszter Bolyki for more than 20 years. Since 2016, Ádám Rozbora has directed the group, which won the Special Prize at the European Bell and Handbell Festival in 2018 and 2019. In addition to refining its existing repertoire, the group continuously learns new pieces. Beyond playing music, rhythm coordination and musical dramaturgy games enrich the sessions. In 2024, the group introduced the Ulwilla color notation system, using tone bars received from our Dutch supporters.

performance by the Felhőjárók Movement Theatre group
Felhőjárók Mozdulatszínház (Felhőjárók Movement Theatre)

The Felhőjárók Movement Theatre is an artistic community founded in 2003 in Százhalombatta, and since 2021 it has been operated by the Felhőjárók Foundation. Several members of the Habilitation Center have since joined the group. Felhőjárók tell stories through gestures and movement about abandonment, acceptance, joy and sorrow, about the game we call LIFE. Their goal is to replace pity with the feeling of “we are one,” emphasizing that we all long for the same thing: to love and to be loved. The group has successfully participated in numerous national and international festivals.

Developmental Employment

Our institution operates a developmental employment program. A maximum of 15 people can participate, and we are currently providing work opportunities for 11 individuals. The focus of our employment activities is the production of high-quality products, placing great emphasis on enabling everyone to achieve their best possible performance according to their own abilities, both in terms of quality and quantity. In our textile and ceramics workshops, we create unique, durable, and high-standard utility and decorative items that meet the expectations of modern times. We pay special attention to design, preparation, and the selection of raw materials to ensure our products represent the highest quality possible.

Today, our work is recognized not only in Érd but increasingly across the country, with numerous orders coming from different regions of Hungary.
