The service is available to persons who are still partly able to care for themselves, but who have difficulty preparing a hot meal due to their age, health condition, disability, psychiatric illness, addiction or homelessness. Clients may collect the meal themselves, consume it on site, or request home delivery by the institution’s vehicle. Dairy-free and diabetic diets can also be provided on request.
How to apply
A request for the service may be submitted in writing, by telephone or in person by the applicant, relatives, the general practitioner, or any person who becomes aware of an older person or a socially disadvantaged person in their living environment who is not receiving adequate care. After the application has been completed, we contact both the applicant and their family.
The detailed eligibility conditions are regulated by a local municipal decree. The exact amount of the personal care fee payable by the person liable to pay is determined by the head of the institution, and the person applying for care is informed of this in writing when the agreement is concluded. When determining the personal care fee for basic social services, the following must be taken into account:
- the regular monthly income of the person using the service
- in the case of a minor service user, the regular monthly income per person in the family
Appeal
If the service user, their legal representative or the person paying the care fee disputes the amount of the personal care fee, or requests its reduction or waiver:
- in the case of a state-maintained institution, they may contact the maintainer within eight days of receiving the written notice on the amount of the institutional care fee; after this, the maintainer’s decision may be reviewed by a court
- in the case of a non-state-maintained institution, they may request the court to determine the care fee. Until the maintainer’s decision is made or until the court’s final decision, the previously determined personal care fee must be paid.
