The aim of the Support Service is to help people living with disabilities live their everyday lives as independently, safely and with as much dignity as possible. Our staff help ensure that basic needs are met and support access to public services.

What is the Support Service?

According to Act XXVI of 1998 on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Assurance of Their Equal Opportunities, the Support Service is a service that promotes independent living for persons with disabilities and aims to meet their everyday needs through personal assistance.

The purpose of the support service is to provide care for persons with disabilities in their own living environment, primarily by helping them access public services outside the home, and by providing special assistance within the home while supporting the preservation of their independent way of life.

The tasks of the support service, according to the nature of the disability, include in particular:

  • ensuring access to services and public services that help meet basic needs, including special personal transport and the operation of a transport service,
  • ensuring the personal and material conditions required for access to healthcare and social care services, as well as developmental activities, appropriate to the person’s general health condition and the nature of their disability,
  • providing information, assistance with administration and counselling, and, following counselling, ensuring access to services that support social inclusion,
  • ensuring access to sign language interpretation services,
  • helping improve the relationship-building skills of persons with disabilities, strengthening family relationships, and supporting participation in special self-help groups,
  • providing certain partial tasks of basic social services, adapted to the special needs of persons with disabilities,
  • supporting the social integration of persons with disabilities and ensuring the conditions necessary for equal participation in family, community, cultural and leisure relationships,
  • promoting access to and use of services that support work and employment for persons with disabilities.

How can the service be requested?

You can apply in person, by telephone or by email.

During the first meeting and counselling session, we discuss what kind of assistance the person living with a disability needs and how this can be provided within the framework of the Support Service.

During the service, we provide support adapted to the individual needs of the person living with a disability, taking into account their age, life situation and health condition, while maintaining, using and developing their existing abilities. At the same time, the service also helps relieve the burden on family members and relatives.

If the applicant decides to use the service, the service provider informs them — and, where there is a legal representative, also the person entitled to use the service — of the earliest possible date on which care can begin.

The provision of care is based on a written agreement between the service provider and the service user, or their legal representative. The agreement summarises the important information relating to the provision of the individually tailored service.

In order for the service user or their legal representative to receive a comprehensive overview of how the service operates, it is necessary to present the professional programme of the service provider.
